Hall of Fame Spotlight: Denny Potts

OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College Department of Athletics is pleased to celebrate its Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees with a weekly spotlight.  Today, Kentucky Wesleyan recognizes Denny Potts.
 
Potts was the head baseball coach at Kentucky Wesleyan from 1983 to 1995, accumulating 269 wins in 13 years.  The Philadelphia, Pa. native led the Panthers to the NCAA South Atlantic Regional in 1988 while bringing home Great Lakes Valley Conference South Division titles in 1986 and 1988.  During the 1984 season, Potts was voted the GLVC baseball Coach of the Year after a runner-up finish in the post season tournament.
 
During his 13 season at Kentucky Wesleyan, the Murray State graduate coached 18 All-GLVC players including the 1993 GLVC Player of the Year Joe Shapely.   Potts had one player sign with a Major League Baseball team with Steve Mondile '87 signing with the Baltimore Orioles.

The Induction Ceremony will take place during Homecoming Weekend on Friday, October 6, 2017.  The ceremony, presented by Kentucky Legend ™, will be held at the Owensboro Convention Center on Friday evening.  Register for the event by visiting www.kwc.edu/homecoming.
