Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan men's soccer team is set to battle Lake Erie in the quarterfinal round of the Great Midwest Men's Soccer Championship tournament this Saturday, November 8, at 6:00 PM at Panther Field.
The Panthers enter the G-MAC Tournament as the three seed and are hosting the first quarterfinals match in program history. The winner of the match will head to Tiffin, Ohio, for a semifinal contest against two-seeded Cedarville. Click here for the 2025 tournament central page.
On the season, Wesleyan is 8-3-7 overall and 8-3-3 in the conference. Before Tuesday's loss, the Panthers were riding an 11-match unbeaten streak that sits as the longest in school history. KWC split their two matches against the Storm this season.
Head captain Haakon Torvbraaten has been the leader on the field for Wesleyan during the 2025 campaign. The senior has tallied four goals and six assists on the season for a total of 14 points, tied for the most on the team.
Sophomore Jersey Lopez likewise has 14 points on the campaign, logging three goals and eight assists. Junior Braeden Myers-Curry has netted a team-high six goals, and freshman Mattie McNally is right behind him with five goals.
Vice captains Cole Greenshields and Hannes Gronevik, along with junior Jhaeem Bryan, have been crucial pieces for the Panthers defense all year, with all three in the top five in minutes. Goalkeeper Iver Sjavag has played nearly every minute protecting the net for Wesleyan.
The Panthers will look to build on last year's postseason run, in which Wesleyan defeated Lake Erie in the quarterfinals before upsetting top-seeded Tiffin in the semifinals. KWC eventually fell 1-0 to Findlay in the championship game, their first championship game appearance in program history.
