Panther Golf Completes Play at DU Invitational

Augusta, Mich. – The Kentucky Wesleyan men's and women's golf teams completed play at their respective DU Panther Invite events over the weekend.

The women finished 11th among the 12 teams with an overall score of 671 over 36 holes following their historic performance at the Bill Crabtree Invitational last weekend.

AnnaMae Atcher led the way with a card of 159, tying for 29th among the 72 student-athletes. Avery Shacklette came in T-49th with a 168, Lucia Perez was right behind her in 54th with a 170, and Autumn Osborne and Ansley Adams were side by side in 62nd and 63rd with scores of 177 and 178, respectively.

"It was good to see most of our players show improvement today and round out the tournament in a positive manner," head coach Ken Badylak said. "At the end of the day collectively, we made too many big mistakes out there which prohibited us from producing another good team score. We now have one [tournament] left on the [fall] season and our hope is that we can validate all the improvements we have made."

On the men's side, the team slotted in at 6th out of the 12 teams with a score of 604. Wesleyan's Jonathan Kaminski came in T-15th with a 149 to lead the charge. Harrison Sallee wasn't far behind, tying for 17th with a 150, Thomas Scott came in T-27th with a 152, and Ben Carter posted a 154 to finish T-35th. Ryan Loiars rounded out the effort with a 160 to come in T-49th.

"From the last event, this was a nice step forward. We showed signs of consistent improvement and were able to continue to push for the progress," Badylak said. "I'm happy to see that we bounced back a little bit from yesterday. We did not make very many big mistakes, and hopefully that will translate into lower scores in the future."

The women's golf team closes out their fall slate at the Bearcat Invitational from October 20-21 in Fairview Heights, Illinois. The men's golf team is doing the same before hosting their home event, the Kentucky Wesleyan Invitational, from October 25-26 at The Pearl Club.
