Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan men's and women's golf teams completed play at the Bearcat Dual Gender event hosted by McKendree University in Caseyville, Illinois.
The Kentucky Wesleyan women's golf team finished 11th among the 11 competing teams with a score of 1007 (348-324-335) across the 54 holes.
Lucia Perez once again impressed with a 13th-place finish among the 65 student-athletes, posting a 238 (83-77-78). Autumn Osborne came in next on the leaderboard in 39th with a 250 (85-83-82).
AnnaMae Atcher posted a 254 (85-81-88) to finish 43rd, Avery Shacklette turned in a 269 (95-87-87) to come in 57th, and Ansley Adams rounded out the effort in 58th with a 273 (100-83-90).
"The ladies put together a good second round and hung tough in the final round. We were trying to take that next step in our progress and break 1,000 over 54 holes," head coach Ken Badylak said. "We are getting better each tournament. Autumn was steady throughout and Lucia played well to finish 13th. We will continue to work towards progress."
The Kentucky Wesleyan men's golf team came in 6th among the nine competing teams with a total score of 905 (304-290-311).
The Panthers had two top three finishers among the 56 in the field: Jonathan Kaminski in second (220, 72-72-76) and Braydon Bond in third (221, 78-69-74).
Benjamin Carter finished T-26th with a 230 (76-74-80), Thomas Scott tied for 36th with a 234 (78-75-81), Ryan Loiars finished T-46th with a 237 (87-75-75), and Harrison Salee turned in a 258 (84-81-93) to come in 56th.
"The men bounced back. We shot a two-over round to finish the second this morning. That put us in the lead," Badylak said. "We held the lead throughout the early parts of the final round and were within striking distance throughout the day. It's fun to be in that position and continue to compete for a title. It didn't go our way in the end, but I was really proud of Jon, who took runner-up honors and led for the majority of the tournament. I was also really happy for Braydon, who had a slow start and shot 69 in the second round to get back in contention."
The men's golf team now turns their attention to their home event, the Kentucky Wesleyan Invitational, at The Pearl Club this weekend, October 25-26. The women's golf fall slate is completed.
