Shiloh Young Serves as Sole G-MAC Representative at 2024 Student-Athlete Leadership Forum

Owensboro, Ky. – Shiloh Young, the Assistant Athletic Director for Sport Administration, Compliance, and Student-Athlete Services as well as the Senior Woman Administrator at Kentucky Wesleyan College, was selected as the sole G-MAC representative to attend the 2024 NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum in Charlotte, North Carolina from November 21-24.

The event, created in 1997, allows "both participating student-athletes and attending administrators and coaches return from the forum with enhanced leadership capabilities that allow them to thrive personally, professionally, and even athletically," according to NCAA.org.

"My faith and hope for this upcoming generation was a bit restored over the weekend," Young said. "So many students from all over who are open and ready to learn, who have big goals and strong work ethics, who are smart, creative, insightful, and kind. I learned so much from each of them and from our larger sessions and speakers. The NCAA put on a wonderful event, and it was great to see the energy and effort put into investing back in our student athletes to help them have a positive impact on the world through more than their sport. I look forward to nominating more of our student athletes, coaches, and administrators for this opportunity in the future, it really is something special to be a part of."

Mark Shook, Kentucky Wesleyan's Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics, is proud of the work put in by Young to be a part of this conference and believes it will strengthen KWC as a whole.

"I'm so proud that Shiloh was selected as the G-MAC administrator to accompany other G-MAC athletes to the 2024 Student-Athlete Leadership Forum," Shook said. "Since it began, this program has served as a life-changing experience for more than 5,000 student-athletes who have grown personally and professionally as a result of their attendance. I know this first-hand because I participated back in 2011 when I was at BGSU."

"This 'best-in-class' programming experience serves as a transformational opportunity for student-athletes and administrators to build a leadership toolkit and develop vital self-awareness that allows them to realize their potential," Shook said.

"Shiloh is a rising star in this profession and this experience not only has helped her in professional growth but will also help Kentucky Wesleyan College as we work towards strengthening our leadership programming on campus as well," Shook said. "Simply put, this is a force multiplier for all of us.

Now back on campus, Young will look to incorporate what she learned to continue to invest in the Student-Athletes, Coaches, and Athletic Staff of Kentucky Wesleyan College.
