KENOSHA, WI. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College wrestling team continued its season at the Jim Koch Open on Saturday. The annual event hosted by Wisconsin Parkside features some of the best teams in the Midwest as a precursor to the Midwest Classic in mid-December.
The Panthers were tested up and down the line-up throughout the day.
Drayden McKerrow recorded one of Wesleyan's few victories of the day at 184 pounds. McKerrow picked-up a sudden victory in the preliminary round over Zavier Campsey. McKerrow then lost a narrow 3-0 decision to Brandon Loyd of McKendree in the next round.
Gavyn Uribes at heavyweight topped Findlay's Zane Bell in 75 seconds in his opening match. After dropping his next match Uribes was moved into the consolation rounds where exited the bracket after a 9-6 loss to McKendree's Dustin Olmstead.
The Panthers will enter Great Midwest Conference competition in two weeks as they will travel to Findlay for two matches. Wesleyan will face Findlay and Davenport on Saturday December 7
th. The Panthers and Davenport will start the day at 8AM CT.
