INDIANAPOLIS, IN. - The Kentucky Wesleyan College Panthers demonstrated solid performances during the Greyhound Open hosted by the University of Indianapolis on February 9, 2025. The event highlighted the strength and dedication of the team members, with standout contributions from
Bryson Rowley,
Matthew Velasco, and
Gavyn Uribes.
The Panthers showcased their skills and resilience against strong competitors.
Bryson Rowley had a commendable performance, finishing 3-2, including two decisive pins. His competition began with a swift victory, pinning Antonio Jefferson in just 4:55, and continued with another pin against Joey Cline from Manchester in 4:11.
Matthew Velasco also made waves at the event, capturing a significant tech fall win, 16-1. Despite a tough 3-0 decision against JP Homfeld in the opening round, Velasco rebounded impressively by pinning Addison Breeding in 2:11. His day ended with a balanced 2-2 record.Â
Gavyn Uribes rounded off the Panthers' successful outing, winning matches both by decision and fall. He started his day with an 8-5 decision and subsequently pinned Reagan McCullough of Bellarmine in the second round, though his performances in the later rounds were challenging. Uribe's exited the heavyweight division with a 5-2 loss to Alex Holmes from Indiana Tech.Â
The Panthers are scheduled to continue their season in the final Great Midwest dual of the season, facing Tiffin University in Tiffin, OH, on February 15, 2025. The match is scheduled to begin at 5PM CT. It marks the final contest before the NCAA Super Regionals at the first of the month.Â
