INDIANAPOLIS, IN - After having a solid freshman season last year,
Calum Newson's breakout sophomore season has earned him a spot on the Great Midwest Athletic Conference First Team.
Newson had a stellar year, finishing the season with 35 total points on 14 goals and seven assists. During the regular season, his 14 total goals were tops in the conference and his 35 points and seven assists each were second. Nationally, Newson finished seventh in total points, was 10th in both goals/game (0.82) and total goals, and finished in the top-25 in total assists.Â
The London, England native re-wrote the Kentucky Wesleyan record book this season, as many of his season total have put him in the top ten all-time. He now ranks sixth in points, seventh in goals, and ninth in assists. In a game against Brescia earlier this year, he set the school record for points in a game (10), and tied the record for both goals (3) and assists (4).Â
In addition to the individual accolades, Newson led the Panthers to an 8-7-3 (5-6-3 G-MAC) record, their most wins since 1991.
