ST. LOUIS, Mo. – For the third time in as many weeks Madisyn Hunt of the Kentucky Wesleyan College women's soccer team has earned another post-season honor. Hunt was named to the 2019 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Women's Soccer All-Midwest Region Team on Wednesday afternoon. Hunt has previously been honored as the Great Midwest Player of the Year and First Team All-GMAC last week.
This marks the second career D2CCA All-Midwest Region honor for Hunt who was named to the Second-Team after her freshman campaign.
In addition to being named First Team All-Region, Hunt also was recognized by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on their Google Cloud Academic All-District Team earlier this month. This season Hunt set the Wesleyan record for goals scored in a career. In 2019 she totaled 22 goals in 18 matches, a total that ranks second all-time in G-MAC history. Hunt also ranks third all-time in G-MAC history with 43 career goals.
Hunt finished the regular season second in the nation with 22 goals scored. In addition, she led the G-MAC in nearly every offensive statistical category, shots (98), assists (7), and points (51). She ranks second in shots on goal and fifth in game-winning goals. This season Hunt tallied four game-winners including two straight games against Alderson Broaddus and Oakland City.
The Panthers finished the season 8-10 with a 5-8 mark in Great Midwest action. Wesleyan qualified for the Great Midwest Championship Tournament, but fell in heartbreaking fashion to Walsh 1-0 in the Quarterfinals.
The GLIAC led with 11 selections, while the Great Midwest Athletic Conference netted nine spots and the Great Lakes Valley Conference had seven.
The 13 first-team honorees will now advance to the national ballot, and the announcement and distribution of the All-American Teams will be Dec. 11, 2019.
