Series History
This will mark Ohio Dominican's first ever trip to Owensboro. Ohio Dominican has won both of the two meetings in Columbus since joining the G-MAC prior to the 2017 season. Their largest win came last year, a 58-point victory.
Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers (0-6 overall, 0-3 G-MAC)
The Panthers are coming off of their largest loss of the season, a 59-6 setback against Tiffin University. Wesleyan is still looking for their first win under first year Head Coach Craig Yeast after four of their first five losses were by one-possession.
Freshman quarterback Wiley Cain got the start last week but was pulled late in the second quarter. Senior Mike McGee took over and finished with 64 of Wesleyan's 88-yards in the air. On the season, Cain has thrown for 1,296-yards, averaging 216-yards per game and throwing for seven touchdowns. De'Ondre Boggs continues to be the top target for Cain, pacing the team with 320-yards. Two Panthers have eclipsed 200-yards with David Florence at 266 and Peyton Peters at 227.
Corey Johnson Jr. leads the run game with 250-yards on the season and is the lone Panther with over 200-yards. However Landon Newman has a chance to break into the 200's, currently sitting at 196-yards. Newman is the lone Panther to run for over 100-yards in a single game this season, totaling 107-yards in a week five loss at Findlay.
Moe Carter had a strong defensive performance last week, recording seven tackles along with two interceptions. Both picks came late in the second quarter with the first coming on the first play of Tiffin's drive and the second being picked off in the end zone and returned 30-yards.
Jalen Wilson leads the defense with 34 tackles on the year followed closely by Jalen Humphrey at 33.5. Five other Panthers have at least 20 tackles in Ramond Jackson, Alijah McGhee, Devyn Bledsoe, Dalan Cofer and RJ Wilson. Cofer leads the team with 2.5 sacks while Wilson, Carter and Armand Childs pace the team with two interceptions each.
Ohio Dominican Panthers (3-2 overall, 2-1 G-MAC)
Ohio Dominican is fully rested after coming off of their first of two bye weeks this season. Prior to the bye, the Panthers defeated Alderson Broaddus by a score of 56-10 in Philippi, W. Va. In their largest win of the season, Ohio Dominican reached 50 points and 500-yards of total offense for the first time this season while the defense matched a season-best 10 points allowed.
The win garnered national attention as linebacker Alessio Amato was named the G-MAC and D2Football.com Defensive Player of the Week after a career-high eight tackles along with two sacks and a conference record three interceptions.
On the season, quarterback Evan Earnst has thrown for 1,279-yards and 14 total touchdowns, ranking second in the Great Midwest. The run game is led by EJ Colson who is averaging 5.1-yards per rush with 286-yards and three touchdowns. Ohio Dominican has two receivers in the top six of the conference. Devanaire Conliffe sits fifth at 75.2-yards per game while Cedric Washington is sixth at 61.4-yards per game.
