ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Kentucky Wesleyan men's tennis team split their first two spring break matches on Thursday.
Wesleyan began the day with a hard-fought 4-3 loss to Missouri Baptist. Caleb Stovall and Adryan Taylor prevailed 6-4 on Court 3 in doubles, but the Panthers dropped the other two courts to lose the doubles point.
In singles, all three of Kade Eber (6-0, 6-3 on Court 4), Marc Stoever (6-1, 6-3 on Court 5), and Miguel Perlaza (6-4, 6-2 on Court 6) earned convincing triumphs on their respective courts, but the Panthers couldn't quite find that elusive fourth point against the Spartans.
The second match of the day was all Panthers. Battling Webster, Jose Ferrandis and Perlaza teamed up for a 6-0 victory on Court 1 and Eber/Taylor clinched the doubles point with their 6-2 victory on Court 3.
In singels, Ferrandis (6-1, 6-1 on Court 1), Stoever (6-1, 6-2 on Court 3), and Max Jody (6-3, 6-1 on Court 6) all tallied resounding victories to clinch the team win for the Panthers.
Marcos Tiferes finished off a 6-2, 7-5 triumph on Court 2 to push the score to 5-0, and Taylor added another point with his 4-6, 6-0, 1-0 victory on Court 4.
Lastly, Connor Adams put an exclamation point on things with his thrilling 7-5, 6-4, 1-0 win on Court 6.
Wesleyan is scheduled for two more matches tomorrow, Friday, March 6th, in St. Louis, Missouri. The Panthers will take on WashU at 10:00 AM followed by Millikin at 2:00 PM.
