OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan men's tennis team was narrowly defeated by Asbury Wednesday afternoon inside Centre Court.
The match began with doubles action that went down to the wire. Marc Stoever and Nick Stoever prevailed 7-6 (7-3) to give the Panthers the edge, but Jose Ferrandis and Miguel Perlaza were defeated 7-5 on Court 2 to put all eyes on the final court.
Kade Eber and Adryan Taylor came back from a 6-5 deficit on Court 3 to win 7-6 (7-3) and clinch the doubles point for KWC.
The Eagles tied the match at 1-1 by earning a Court 6 win to open singles play, but Ferrandis put the Panthers back on top at 2-1 with his 6-3, 6-2 victory on Court 1.
Asbury took the advantage back with triumphs on Court 2 and Court 3, putting the pressure on Taylor and Kade Eber on the final two courts. Taylor prevailed 6-1,7-6 in an exciting finish on Court 4 to tie the match at 3-3, but Eber was defeated on Court 5 to finalize the win for the Eagles.
The Panthers are back on the court on Saturday, February 21st, against Brescia at 11:00 AM.
