GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan women's golf team came in 5th among the seven-team field at the SVSU Women's Spring Invite.
The Panthers competed in the event from March 14-15 and posted an overall team tally of 1039 (+175, 358-343-338).
Among the 38-player field, AnnaMae Atcher and Autumn Osborne led the Wesleyan effort as each turned in cards of 258 (+42). The former recorded rounds of 91-85-82 and the latter logged rounds of 89-86-83.
Avery Shacklette slotted in at 26th with a score of 265 (+49, 91-88-86). Ansley Adams came in not far behind at T-27th with a tally of 266 (+50, 95-84-87).
Javen Campbell brought up the rear with a 31st-place finish, turning in a card of 270 (+54, 87-89-94).
"Overall, it was a solid day. The ladies played well. I don't know if I can do justice for how difficult the conditions were with the wind blowing at 25 miles per hour part of the day," head coach Ken Badylak said. "They got incrementally better each round, and it was nice to see them string some good scores together throughout the week. It is unfortunate that we don't get a chance to play the rest of this week due to the upcoming weather."
Host Saginaw Valley State took home the team victory by eight strokes (932, 316-315-301). Saginaw's Marissa GeRue won the individual title by six strokes after an impressive four-under final round (224, 78-78-68).
Wesleyan has one more spring event left before the Great Midwest Championship. The Panthers will head to St. Louis, Missouri, to compete in the USML Invitational from April 12-13 to round out the spring regular season.
