Panthers Close Out 2026 Campaign at Great Midwest Championship

AnnaMae Atcher records highest individual finish for a Panther since 2017

Florence, Ind. – The Kentucky Wesleyan women's golf team concluded their season at the Great Midwest Championship at Belterra Golf Club.

The Panthers tied for 8th among the 11 teams, finishing ahead of rival Thomas More and Ursuline. Wesleyan tied with Malone after posting a total score of 1012 (336-339-337).

Freshman AnnaMae Atcher greatly impressed with a T-19th (24-over) finish among the 61 student-athletes competing. Atcher shot four-over in the first round and five-over in the third round to combat a tough second round and became the highest finishing Panther at the G-MAC Championship since 2017.

Sophomore Ansley Adams was next in the clubhouse for the Panthers, turning in a card of 37-over to come in 31st. Adams improved each round, capping off the tournament with a nine-over final round.

Sophomore Javen Campbell tied for 43rd with a tally of 49-over, highlighted by a 10-over second round. Senior Avery Shacklette and sophomore Autumn Osborne were neck and neck as the former came in 48th with a score of 61-over and the latter slotted in at 49th with a tally of 64-over.

"This was our highest finish since the 2021-22 season. Over the past week, we have played a lot of golf and have been consistent throughout," head coach Ken Badylak said. "There are still those big mistakes that we need to clean up. It is my hope that the ladies feel they have improved from day one of the season to today. I hope they can look at the entire body of work and see us moving in the right direction."

"AnnaMae played a great tournament for never seeing the course or being in this high level of competition," Badylak continued. "To close out the day with a three-under par 32 on her last nine holes was impressive. It shows me the great potential of this team and what they can do with being efficient in their practice efforts. Futhermore, Avery was the foundation of our culture this year. We could not have asked for a better person to lead this team."

Findlay, ranked fourth in the country, took home the team title by 34 strokes. Walsh's Sydney Hugo, ranked 124th, won the individual title by two strokes.
