Teamwork Off the Pitch: Panthers Help Build Beds with Sleep in Heavenly Peace

Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan men's soccer team volunteered with Sleep in Heavenly Peace to help build beds for kids in the community last weekend, as part of the organization's Bunks Across America campaign.

The team spent time sanding lumber to make the beds smooth and to prevent splinters, while also assembling the beds. In total, with the help of many other volunteers across the Owensboro community, the team contributed to the creation of 46 total beds.

"I'm really happy that we were able to get out there and attend this event and have an impact in the community and on the families of need," men's soccer athlete and SAAC Treasurer Jason Stilwell said. "It truly means a lot to see the joy on the kids' faces when they get the bed delivered and built, because it is something for them to enjoy and use daily."

The team's efforts off the field reflect their commitment to making a positive impact in the community, showing that their drive to succeed extends well beyond the pitch.
