Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan men's soccer team played to their second draw in as many games this season, this time battling to a 2-2 score against Missouri S&T on Monday afternoon at Panther Field.
Missouri S&T (1-0-1) got the scoring started with a 22nd minute goal to take the lead at 1-0.
Wesleyan later tied the game on Braeden Myers-Curry's first goal of the season in the 40th minute, with Sebastian Hardy Tverback delivering a smooth assist.
Coming out of the half, the Miners didn't wait long to strike again with a 49th minute goal to grab the lead back at 2-1.
The Panthers (0-0-2) had another response just 10 minutes later. Ivan Juarez logged his first goal of the season off assists from Jhaeem Bryan and Jersey Lopez, tying the game at 2-2 with just over 30 minutes to play.
The two teams' defenses took command of that final stretch to finalize the 2-2 draw in what was a chippy match with six total yellow cards. Despite the two goals, Iver Sjavag racked up seven saves on the afternoon.
The Miners piled up the opportunities with 17 shots, nine being on goal, and five corner kicks. Wesleyan tallied nine shots and just one corner kick.
The Panthers are back at it on Friday, September 12, set to take on in-city rival Brescia. Kickoff is set for 6:00 PM at Panther Field.
