St. Leo, Fla. – The Kentucky Wesleyan men's golf team finished 17th in the 18-team field at the Saint Leo Invitational from February 17-18.

The Panthers shot a 923 as a team across three rounds (297-306-320) in their first action of the spring season, with the highlight being their top-10 first round of 297.

Saint Leo came out on top as a team, winning by two strokes with a score of 855 on their home course. Florida Southern's Colton Swartz won the event individually, carding a 206 after a staggering first round with a 10-under 69.

Wesleyan was led by senior Jonah Graham's 228 (72-78-78), slotting him in at T-65th in the 99-player field.

Senior Evan Beery came in at T-75th with a 232 (80-73-79) and sophomore Thomas Scott finished right behind him with a 232 (T-79th, 75-79-79).

To round out the Panthers effort, freshman Braydon Bond ended with a 235 (T-87th, 74-77-84) and senior Evan Schumacher carded a 239 (T-92nd, 76-78-85).

"We have to clean up a few things, but our first round shows us where we can go," head golf coach Ken Badylak said. "This is still an experienced team, and our objective each week is to keep improving, focus on ourselves, and try to outperform our scoring average."

The Panthers have about a month off before heading to Georgetown, Kentucky, for the SVSU Spring Invitational from March 15-16.
