Peru, Ind. – The Kentucky Wesleyan men's golf team had an improved third round on their way to a 17th-place finish at the Midwest Collegiate event hosted by Missouri – St. Louis.
The Panthers shot 72-over over the three rounds, with individual round scores of 29-over, 26-over, and a final round 17-over.
Sophomore Jonathan Kaminiski led the way for Wesleyan, coming in T-38th out of 95 student-athletes with a total score of 13-over. Sophomore Braydon Bond slotted in at T-60th with a final tally of 18-over.
Junior Thomas Scott finished T-67th, turning in a card of 21-over that included a final round score of one-over, and freshman Benjamin Carter was right behind him in T-72nd with a total score of 22-over. Freshman Ryan Loiars brought up the rear for the Panthers, accumulating a score of 35-over to come in 92nd.
"I was happy with the bounce back we had today. Still not where we want to be. We missed too many greens, and the golf course won this week," head coach Ken Badylak said. "This was a tough place to play under any conditions. Thomas played an outstanding final round. Jon played well on Monday. We have a good plan of what to work on as we move forward."
G-MAC foe Tiffin brought home the top spot with a team score of eleven-over, winning by a comfortable eight strokes.
Robert Thompson, playing for another G-MAC foe in Hillsdale, won the individual title by just stroke with an impressive score of six-under.
Wesleyan next travels to Augusta, Michigan, for the Davenport Panther Invitational from October 11-12 at Stoatin Brae Golf Course.
