NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Kentucky Wesleyan men's golf team finished 14th out of 16 teams at the Music City Invitational hosted by former G-MAC foe Trevecca Nazarene.
Collectively, the Panthers shot 35-over across the three rounds, including a six-over final round that was the eighth best among the programs.
Braydon Bond once again led the Wesleyan effort, carding a score of one-over to tie for 16th among the 87 student-athletes. The sophomore shot two-under in the final round to move up 15 spots after shooting one-over and two-over, respectively, in the first two rounds.
Next in the clubhouse for KWC was Jonathan Kaminski with a final tally of eight-over to tie for 46th. The senior was consistent, shooting four-over in the first round before back-to-back two-over scores in the latter two rounds.
Ben Carter slotted in at 59th with a score of 10-over. The freshman moved up nine spots in the final round with an impressive score of one-over, five strokes better than his second round score.
Senior Thomas Scott (74th) carded a score of 16-over, including a strong opening round score of even, and freshman Ryan Loiars (85th) tallied a score of 30-over.
"We laid an egg in the second round yesterday. That aside, this was some of the best golf these guys expected to be playing this time of year," head coach Ken Badylak said. "We produced one of the best rounds of the day and sat under par throughout most of the day. Braydon and Jon played solid. I know Jon isn't happy with the way the round ended, but these are great learning experiences. The objective is to get to the last nine holes with a chance, and he got there. Braydon has had two good finishes in a row and shot one-over par this week."
The host Trojans went four-under as a team to win the team competition by four strokes. Hillsdale's Oliver Marshall narrowly won the individual competition by just one stroke with a score of six-under.
The Kentucky Wesleyan men's golf team now turns their attention to the Bill Blazer Memorial in Lancaster, Ohio, hosted by G-MAC foe Ohio Dominican. The event will run from April 11-12.
