HUNTSVILLE, AL. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's soccer team ended-up on the wrong side of 2-0 decision on Saturday against the University of Alabama at Huntsville. The Chargers scored a goal in each period to secure the victory.
The Panthers (0-2) came out aggressive in the match and had the first chance to score.
Haylie Panter's shot was saved by Chargers' keeper Cece Szopa in the 14
th minute. Five minutes later a foul in the box, allowed the Chargers a penalty kick, which was converted to give Huntsville a 1-0 lead.
Wesleyan continued to be relentless with scoring opportunities in the 29
th and 33
rd minute, both were stopped by Szopa.
Emily Goff took a chance to find the equalizer in the 43
rd minute, but again the Panthers' shot was saved. In total the Panthers took six shots in the opening frame, four on goal.
The Chargers added another score in the 51
st minute and kept the Panthers offense on bay the rest of the way.
Kassidy Elkin made five saves on the day. Panter took two shots, one on goal.
The Panthers will return home on Monday to take on McKendree. The match at Panther Field is scheduled for 3PM.
