NOBLESVILLE, IN - Facing many of their Midwest Region counterparts, the Kentucky Wesleyan Men's Golf opened the week with a 14th place finish at the Ken Partridge Invitational, hosted by the University of Indianapolis.. With the first and third rounds being played in rough conditions, and an eclipse in the middle of their second round, Wesleyan went 317-291-307 to finish with a 915 (+51).
Ranked third in the country, Grand Valley State shot an 863 (-1) to take the team title, while Missouri S&T's Jeppe Thybo went 73-67-67 to take medalist honors with a 207 (-9).Â
Leading the way for the Panthers was senior
Tyler Nickol, who shot rounds of 79-71-76 to finish in a tie for 36th with a 226 (+10). After struggling in his opening round, junior
Jonah Graham came through and matched Nickol with a big 71 in the second round. He ended up finishing with a 229 (+13) and tied for 54th. Coming in just behind Graham was
Evan Beery, who's consistent play tied him in 57th with a 230 (+14).Â
Ayden Gillilan got better every day, finishing with rounds of 80-77-76 to tie for 69th with a 233 (+17). Rounding out the scored for the Panthers was
Evan Schumacher, who tied for 83rd with a 238 (+22).Â
Gillilan was great on the par 3's, as he finished with an average score of 2.92 (-1), good for fourth in the entire tournament field.
The season is winding down for the Panthers, as they have just two more tournaments left on their schedule. They travel to Hickory, Tennessee to take part in the Music City Classic on Monday and Tuesday of next week, before coming home to Owensboro to take part in the G-MAC Championships, which will take place at the Pearl Club on Monday-Wednesday, April 22-24.Â
