WESLEY CHAPEL, FL - It was a windy few days down in Florida for the Panthers, but none of that seemed to phase senior
Tyler Nickol, who's par putt on his final hole secured the second win of his career. Nickol, who was second after day one and fifth after day two, shot a 72 (+2) on his final round to tie for the best round of the day and jump up four spots to No. 1. He shot rounds of 69-76-72 to finish with a 54-hole score of 217 (+7). The course was a par-70, and Tyler's day one total of 69 was one of just two under par rounds in the entire tournament.
This was Nickol's second career win, as he took first at the Klash in Kentucky back in March of 2022.
The team champion went to the Winona State Warriors, who finished with a three-round score of 878 (+38). The Panthers finished in second with an 891 (+51), and took down fellow G-MAC members Ashland (898, +58) and Walsh (907, +67).
Tyler finished with the best par-4 average in the tournament, going six-over with an average of 4.17. He also tied for fifth with 36 total pars. His eagle on the par-5 14th was one of just four in the entire tournament.
Evan Schumacher was second on the team and tied for 12th overall, shooting a 225 (+15). His opening round score of 71 was the second best round by any Panther on the weekend. Not far behind him was
Jonah Graham, who's consistant rounds of 75-75-76 gave him a 226 (+16), placing him at 14th overall.
Evan Beery rebounded after a rough first day, coming through with a 231 (+21) to tie for 19th.
Ayden Gillilan and
Thomas Scott rounded out the lineup for the Panthers, finishing with round of 237 (+27) and 239 (+29).
The Panthers have some time off as they don't compete again until early April at the Ken Partridge Invitational hosted by the University of Indianapolis. The tournament will take place on Sunday-Tuesday, April 7-9, a the Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, Indiana.
