RICHMOND, KY - The Kentucky Wesleyan Women's Golf team closed out their long weekend in Richmond, taking part in the Findlay Women's Spring Invite. The tournament took place at Boone's Trace National Golf Club. The Panthers shot a 1,020 (+156) over the 54-hole tournament, and tied a semester low with a 328 in their final round.
The host Findlay Oilers won with an 889 (+25), while Findlay's Mary Kelly Mulcahy shot a 215 (-1) to take medalist honors.
Leading the way for Wesleyan was steady senior
Maddie Zimmerman. Zimmerman opened with two straight rounds of 86, then closed out the tournament with a very strong 78. She tied for 58th with a 250 (+32). Finishing just one stroke behind her was sophomore
Audrey Koetter, who posted rounds of 86-83-82 to finish with a 251 (+33).
Megan Bryan got significantly better every round, as she went 91-87-80 to tie for 73rd with a 258 (+42).
Avery Shacklette (266, +50) and
Samantha DeSpain (277, +61) closed things out for Wesleyan.
The Panthers compete again in two weeks when they travel to Indiana for the Indianapolis Intercollegiate. The tournament will take place on Monday-Tuesday, April 1-2 at Chariot Run in Laconia, Indiana.
