GEORGETOWN, KY - The Kentucky Wesleyan Women's Golf team posted their best 36-hole score of the season this weekend, as they took 11th at the Saginaw Valley State Spring Invite with a 661 (+85). The Panthers shot a 333 in their opening round, then followed that up with a strong 328 in the second round.
McKendree won the team title with a 613 (+37), while McKendree's Martina Hicks took medalist honors with a 149 (+5).
The Panthers were extremely consistent on the weekend, as not one individual shot above an 87 for a round. Leading the way was
Audrey Koetter, who's rounds of 82-80 put her in a tie for 32nd with a 162 (+18). Finishing just one stroke behind her and tying for 35th was
Maddie Zimmerman, who went 81-82 on her rounds. Zimmerman led the team with three birdies, including two on her final two holes of the opening round.
Not far behind Koetter and Zimmerman was
Megan Bryan, who's rounds of 84-82 gave her a 166 (+22), good for a tie for 42nd. Closing it out for Wesleyan were
Samantha DeSpain (170, +26) and
Avery Shacklette (173, +29), who finished in ties for 56th and 64th.
The Panthers have a quick turnaround, as they head to Richmond, Kentucky, to take part in the Findlay Spring Invitational tomorrow and Tuesday.
