Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan men's and women's golf teams completed play at the Bearcat Dual Gender event hosted by McKendree University in Caseyville, Illinois from October 21-22.
The Kentucky Wesleyan men put on a strong performance, finishing 5th out of 10 teams with an 891 (295-291-305).
The Panthers were once again led by Jonah Graham, who slotted in at T-6th with a 217 (72-72-73). Evan Beery came in not far behind at T-13th with a 222 (74-70-78) and Evan Schumacher carded a 225 (77-72-76) to finish T-18th. To round out the Wesleyan effort, Ayden Gillilan turned in a 229 (74-77-78, T-26th), Jonathan Kaminiski also finished with a 229 (77-76-76, T-26th), and Parker Conover tallied a 236 (75-81-80, T-43rd).
Host McKendree won the men's side with a staggering 855 (-9), a whole 12 strokes better than the runner-up. Kai-Chun Hsu came out on top individually with a 208 (-8), winning by two strokes.
The Kentucky Wesleyan women came in 10th out of 11 teams, carding a 1052 (347-359-346).
Megan Bryan captained the ship, slotting in at 29th with a 249 (82-85-82). Autumn Osborne had a career-best day with a 255 (88-87-80) to finish T-37th in the 59-player field, and Avery Shacklette shot a 267 (82-91-94) to come in T-48th. Lastly, Mary Lyons recorded a 283 (95-96-92, 55th) and Aylin Hatch totaled a 285 (96-97-92, 56th).
Drury won the women's competition by three strokes, tallying a 937 (+73). William Jewell's Madelyn Luttjohann won the individual competition with a 228, winning by just one stroke.
Both the men's and women's teams are back in action in the next week right here in Owensboro. The women compete in the Kentucky Wesleyan Invitational this weekend at The Pearl Club, and the men follow with the Bill Crabtree Invitational next Monday and Tuesday at the same location.
