Kentucky Wesleyan Golf Joins Folds of Honor

OWENSBORO, KY. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College men's and women's golf programs have enlisted into the Folds of Honor program, as announced by Head Coach Ken Badylak on Friday Morning. Folds of Honor (FOH) has been a long-standing partner with the NCAA and College Golf.

Members of both the men's and women's golf program will carry a customized golf bag in honor of a soldier who gave the ultimate sacrifice. This season the Panthers will represent U.S. Army Specialist Jacob Lowell of Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Battalion, 173rd Airborne Brigade. Specialist Lowell gave the ultimate sacrifice June 2nd, 2007 while station in Gowardesh, Afghanistan.

U.S. Army Specialist David Hickman, Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Battalion, 82ndAirborne Division will also be represented by the Panthers golf programs. Specialist Hickman gave the ultimate sacrifice December 14th, 2011 in Baghdad, Iraq, the last American casualty of the Iraq War.

Both Specialist Lowell and Specialist Hickman served with Kentucky Wesleyan College Head Wrestling Coach Brandon Crawford. Coach Crawford had a decorated 13-year career in the Army.

"I am proud that Kentucky Wesleyan can participate in the Folds of Honor program," said Head Golf Coach Ken Badylak. "I feel the young women and men of our programs over the years have always understood they represent more than themselves. Providing perspective for college aged players is something any coach strives to accomplish in helping our players prepare for life after college."

By participating in the FOH Honor Bag Program, Kentucky Wesleyan is given the opportunity to honor fallen or disabled American service members and first responders by providing life-changing scholarships to their spouses and children. This is achieved by a player(s) carrying a golf bag displaying Specialist Lowell and Hickman. Throughout the year, Kentucky Wesleyan is encouraged to communicate the significance behind this Specialist Lowell and Hickman through a end of year auction of the bags. The FOH Honor Bag Program is proudly supported by the Golf Coaches Association of America and the Women's Golf Coaches Association.
