CANTON, OH - Taking part in their first tournament of the year, the Kentucky Wesleyan Men's Golf team put together a strong showing, shooting rounds of 308-302-297 to finish with a 54-hole score of 907 (+43), good for seventh out of 15 teams at the Malone Glenmoore Invite. The Panthers final round of 297 was fourth best on the day, just behind Hillsdale, Ashland, and Malone.
Hillsdale won the team title with a score of 885 (+21), while Ferris State's Caleb Bond took home medalist honors with a 204 (-12).
Senior
Tyler Nickol picked up right where he left off last season, shooting rounds of 70-78-71 to tie for seventh with a 219 (+3), 10 strokes better than his score at this tournament last year.
Jonah Graham set a new 54-hole personal best while also tying for 15th, shooting three straight rounds of 74 to finish with a 222 (+6), taking down his previous best by one stroke.
After struggling in the opening round,
Evan Beery finished strong, combining to shoot just five-over in his final two rounds to tie for 39th with a 231 (+15).
Evan Schumacher shot a 237 (+21) and
Ayden Gillilan came through with a 240 (+24) to round out the scoring for the Panthers.
The men will have about three weeks before they compete again, as they will travel to Tiffin, Ohio, for the Kyle Ryman Memorial on October 2-3.
