PERRY PARK, KY. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's golf team finished eighth at the Klash in Kentucky on Sunday afternoon. The Panthers battled through chilly and windy conditions throughout the 36-hole event. Wesleyan rebounded on Sunday with a 16 shot improvement.
The Panthers opened play with a round of 363,
Maddie Zimmerman led the charge with a round of 83.
Erin Sexsmith opened play with a round of 86. The second nine proved to be costly for the Panthers in the opening round as the green speed cause trouble with the entire field.
On day two the Panthers rebounded as
Megan Bryan showed the biggest adjustment as she was 13 shots better on day two, closing with an 84. Her 181 total left her in a tie for 34
th.
Samantha DeSpain was five shots better in the final round, closing with a 92.
Zimmerman placed in a tie for 17
th in the 44-player field after carding a final round of 84. Sexsmith also produced another round in the 80s as she recorded a final round total of 87. Her 173 total on the weekend finished 26
th overall.
Gannon won the team title with round of 305 and 315, 14 shots ahead of Drury which finished with a 634 two-day total.
The Panthers will travel to Nashville on Monday for the Music City Classic. The 36-hole event will be contested at the Hermitage Golf Club.
