OWENSBORO, KY- The Panthers came up short on Thursday night, falling 60-47 in a tough battle against the Tiffin Dragons. Tahlia Walton led the way in scoring for the Panthers with 10 points.
With the win, Tiffin moves to 10-11 (7-8 GMAC) while the Panthers fall to 14-8 (11-5 GMAC).
Both teams filled up the scoresheet early, with a combined 29 points in the opening quarter alone. Down early, the Panthers used seven points from Shaylee McDonald to fuel a 15-7 run that gave KWC a 17-12 lead after one.
In the second period the high scoring battle continued on both sides, but the Dragons timely stops and good ball movement gave them a one-point lead heading into the locker room.
The momentum Tiffin took into halftime rolled over into the second half as they outscored the Panthers 13-6 in the third to push their lead to eight heading into the final frame. Wesleyan never managed to get any closer than eight in the final quarter and the Dragons took this one 60-47.
Tahlia Walton yet again led the Panthers in scoring, putting in 10 points on the day. Emma Johnson tallied eight points while Shaylee McDonald notched seven. Cali Nolot led the Panthers with six boards while Reeva Hammelman and Shaylee Mcdonald both led KWC in assists with three each.
Wesleyan shot 18-52 (34.6%) from the field and 5-20 (25.0%) from the three-point line. Tiffin shot 21-53 (39.6%) from the field and 3-15 (20.0%) from behind the arc.
KWC will be at home on Saturday to take on the Eagles of Ashland. Tipoff is set for 12 p.m. CT.
