EVANSVILLE, IND. - The Kentucky Wesleyan Women's Golf Team opened their season up on Sunday and Monday at the Screaming Eagle Classic in Evansville, Ind. The Panthers finished sixth with a team score of 690, paced by
Maddie Zimmerman's two-day total of 165.
On day one freshman
Megan Bryan led the way with a score of 83 (+11), followed by junior
Maddie Zimmerman's 86 (+14) and
Erin Sexsmith's 87 (+15).
Samantha DeSpain closed out the scoring for the Panthers with an 88 (+16).
On day two Zimmerman found her groove. She connected well all day and shot a team low score of 79 (+7). Bryan shot an 87 (+15), DeSpain shot an 85 (+13), and Sexsmith shot a 95 (+23).
For the tournament, Zimmerman came in just out of the top-20 with a two-day total of 165 (+21). Bryan finished with a 170 (+26), DeSpain scored a 173 (+29), and Sexsmith finished with a 182 (+38).
The Panthers won't have a long time to rest as they are back at it again Saturday when they head to Columbus, Ohio for the Champions of Women's Golf. The tournament will take place at the Champions Golf Club.
