SMYRNA, Tenn. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's bowling team ended their season with a 10
th place at the Intercollegiate Team Championships (ITC) Sectional Qualifier on April 18
th. On April 22
nd the Panthers claimed the 10
th spot in the National Tenpin Coaches Association DII/DIII poll. The Ranking comes as one of the first and highest national rankings in the young program history.
The top-four teams in ITC Sectionals advance to the Nationals. After the opening day the Panthers were in good shape sitting in seventh place, 155 pins away from the coveted top spot. The final game was one of Wesleyan's best, 214, but the average on day two dipped as the Panthers dropped to 10
th with 3,270 pins. The Panthers averaged 173 per game.
Maryville University took the fourth-place position at 3,738 pins. McKendree University took the top team honors with 3,913 pins.
The Panthers finished the season 23-27 and accumulated 91 points in the national poll. They come into the top-10 after not being ranked in the previous poll. McKendree claimed the top spot in the rankings with 21 first place votes a record of 77-18.
