QUINCY, IL - The Kentucky Wesleyan Women's Bowling Team "bowled" out this weekend, taking home the Hawk Classic title. Wesleyan not only won their first tournament in three years, but they also set a new high series record of 1,105 pins, breaking the previous mark of 1,074. 

After falling to Upper Iowa in the first round of the championship bracket, they took down Aurora in six games to face the Peacocks in a rematch for the championship. Wesleyan narrowly defeated Upper Iowa in Sunday's championship, closing out the win with a big 213-204 victory. Wesleyan finished the tournament with team average of 183.5, the best in the tournament, just .2 better than Quincy's 183.3. 

Lauren Meagher led the way for the Panthers, taking eighth overall and knocking down a total of 917 pins, good for an average of 183.4. Alysa Conley was the only other bowler to bowl five sets, and she came in 14th with a total of 898 pins, averaging out to 179.6 a game. Miranda Cain bowled four games and finished with an average of 187.5, including a team-high 233 in her third game. Daylin Tolgo took 33rd with a three-game total of 518 pins (172.67 avg.), and Katelyn Payne, who only bowled two games, finished with an incredible average of 194.5. Emma Workman's two games netted her an average of 164.5, Samantha Bugno's saw her average 163.5, and Corynne Bean rounded it out with a two-game average of 157.5. 

Wesleyan will have a few weeks off before they take part in the ITC sectionals on March 11-12.
