HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's golf team opened its spring season at the Coker Cobra Invitational on Monday and Tuesday. The Panthers placed fifth out of six teams in the annual event contested at Hartsville Country Club.
As play opened on Monday, a strong wind swept through the 5,900 yard course throughout the day. The Panthers had a steady start to the round, but the final six holes proved to costly. Over half the shots over par came form the final six holes. Wesleyan shot 385 in the opening round paced by
Erin Sexsmith's opening round of 95.
Samantha Yake and
Maddie Zimmerman each posted 96s.

Day two saw the temperatures dropped into the 40s with a steady rainfall. As conditions worsened, pars became a commodity. The Panthers finished with a final round 396. Yake carded a round of 92 while Sexsmith also improved from her day one total and shot 93. Both Yake and Sexsmith finished with two-day totals of 188 to place 19
th overall.
Scout Pope carded a final round 97.
Mount Olive came away as the team champion for the event after rounds of 316 and 321. Mount Olive's Johanna Andersson took medalist honors after a 36-hole total of 157.
The Panthers will travel to Lexington, Kentucky on March 29-30
th to play in the Asbury Invitational. The 36-hole event will be contested at Picadome Golf Course at start at 9 AM ET.
