SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College men's golf open its spring season on Monday and Tuesday in the Sunshine State. The Panthers finished 18^th at the Saint Leo Invitational contested at Lake Jovita Country Club against the strongest field in the country.
 
Of the 18 teams in the field, six are ranked in the top-25 with five additional teams receiving votes in the Golf Coaches Association of America most recent poll. The Panthers opened play on the 7,134-yard course on Monday with 36-holes. Tyler Nickol paced Wesleyan with a one-under par round of 71 while Alex Phillips posted a two-over par round of 74.
 
As darkness closed in, play was halted on Monday evening with four holes remaining in round two. Play resumed Tuesday morning at 8:30 AM with Carter Dodson posting a round of five over 77, the same number he carded in the opening round. Collins Dodson posted a 78 in the second round as the Panthers recorded a round of 317.
 
Play continued through into the final round where Carter Dodson saved his best round for last. Dodson made three birdies in a final round 73. Nickol carded a round of 77 while Phillips posted a 76. Wesleyan shot 305 in the final round as Collins Dodson rounded out the team score with a 79.
 
Lance Lewis posted rounds of 94-83-83 to finish the event. Carter Dodson placed 79^th out of 100 players after rounds of 77-77-73.
 
Lynn University won the team title with an 833 total, 31 shots under par. The host Lions finished 26 under par. Agustin Erraruriz from Lynn won medalist honors with a three-round total of 15 under par.
 
The Panthers will travel to Georgetown, Kentucky on Saturday March 20^th to compete in the Saginaw Valley State Invitational contested at Kearney Hill Golf Links.
