SAINT LOUIS, Mo. – After multiple cancellations to start the season, the Kentucky Wesleyan College women's bowling team finally made their return to the lanes this weekend, competing at the Columbia 300 Saints Invite hosted by Maryville University.  The Panthers finished fifth in their first tournament under new Head Coach Roger Petrin.

Wesleyan picked up three wins in the Baker matches, taking down Drury (928-925), Tusculum (844-816) and Quincy (945-870).

The Panthers entered Sunday's Championship bracket in seventh place but jumped up to fifth after taking down Lewis (4-1) and Drury (4-3) in the best of Baker matches.  Wesleyan trailed Drury 3-1 but mounted a comeback to win the match 4-3.  A three day record of 5-7 earned Wesleyan a fifth place finish with 176.4 pins per game.

Alyssa Zombirt placed eighth individually, averaging 198.5 pins per game.  She bowled three games over 200 including one at 223.

Samantha Bugno, Lauren Meagher and Leah Kopko finished 34th-36th.  Bugno averaged 185.6 while Meagher and Kopko were separated by 0.20 at 175.40 and 175.20 respectively.

The Panthers return to action this weekend at the Thomas More Classic on Sunday, Jan. 31.
