LEMONT, Ill. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's golf team continued its season on Monday and Tuesday at Flyer Intercollegiate at historic Cog Hill. The Panthers placed eighth overall out of 10 teams as
Samantha Yake recorded a top-20 finish.
The event started on a brisk Monday morning on the Ravines course at Cog Hill. The Panthers were the first groups on the course and produced a round of 358 as
Scout Pope led the team with an opening round of 87.

Wesleyan played well through the opening nine holes, but momentum shifted late into the round. Yake carded a round of 89 while
Erin Sexsmith finished with 90.
Maddie Zimmerman suffered an equipment issue and posted a round of 92. The Panthers finished the day with a round of 358 and stood in sixth place.
On day two the scores across the field were improved as the Panthers knocked nine shots of their day one total. Yake closed with a 10 over par round of 82 to finish with a 36-hole total of 171 and place in a tie for 19
th overall in a field of 50 players.
Zimmerman carded a round of 85 to finish the two-day event with a 177 total and place in a tie for 29
th with
Scout Pope. Pope shot 90 in the final round. Sexsmith finished 35
th with a 36-hole total of 182.
The Panthers will have a couple weeks to prepare for the Bearcat Intercollegiate on Oct. 19-20
th. The 54-hoel event will be contested at Far Oaks Golf Club in Caseyville, Illinois.
