ERLANGER, Ky. – It was another historic weekend for the Kentucky Wesleyan bowling teams at the Thomas More Classic with the women taking home the team title and the men placing second. It marks the first team title for the women this season and the highest finish in program history for the men.
Three Panthers earned All-Tournament honors with
Evan Decker placing third and
Tanner Johnson fourth on the men's side and
Angelique McKeny taking second for the women.
The women posted a two-day total of 7,441 pins, beating out second place Spring Hill College by nearly 400 pins. Wesleyan eclipsed 200 pins in four separate Baker games including a tournament high of 234.
McKeny placed second individually with a tournament average of 205.2 pins per game with a high of 221.
Kayla Payne posted a top 10 finish with a 176.8 average. Sam Bugno snuck in the top 15, placing 13that 170.4 pins per game.
The second place finish for the men marks their highest finish in program history, beating their fourth place finish at the Green River Classic earlier this season.
Decker finished third, averaging 205.8 pins per game with a best game of 272 pins. Johnson placed fourth with an average of 201.0 and a high of 242 pins in a single game.
Colton Baker and
Zach Roberts both average 172 pins per game while Izak Atheron was right behind at 171.
Both teams will return to action on January 18-19 at the Tier 1 Kegel in Addison, Ill.
