MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's golf team continued its season in Murfreesboro, Tennessee on Monday and Tuesday. The Panthers finished 13
th at the Music City Classic hosted by Trevecca Nazarene at Old Fort Golf Course. Wesleyan posted a pair of season low scores at Old Fort, the site of the Battle of Stones River during the Civil War.
The Panthers opened the 36-hole event with a round of 345 on Monday, a season low.
Maddie Zimmerman paced the Panthers with an opening round of 11-over par, 83, a total that also stands as a career best.
Samantha Yake carded a round of 85 while
Erin Sexsmith shook off a shaky start to finish with a round of 86.
The Panthers remained consistent in the final round on Tuesday, posting a season best 340. Sexsmith led the team with a final round of nine over 81. Her two-day total of 167 placed in a tied of 52
nd overall. Yake posted an identical second round of 85 to finish with a 170 two-day total.

The biggest improvement on the weekend came from
Kaelen Rice who opened the event with a round of 91 and bettered her day one score by eight shots on day two, shooting 83. Rice finished 61
st overall.
Scout Pope posted back-to-back rounds of 91 to post a 36-hole total of 182.
Zimmerman struggled in the final round as she finished the tournament with a 175 two-day total. Playing as an individual,
Hayley Frost posted a 193 total to finish in 70
th.
Pilar Echeverria from the University of Indianapolis tied for medalist honors with her teammate Cailyn Henderson. Both players finished the event at nine-under par 135. UIndy won the team title as well with a 10 under par total of 566. Carson Newman took runner-up honors, 31 shots behind the Greyhounds.
The Panthers will play Brescia in the Battle of Frederica on Thursday afternoon. The match at The Pearl Club will start at 11:30 AM.
