OWENSBORO, Ky. – Kentucky Wesleyan men's soccer (3-3-0, 2-2-0) dominated Malone (2-5-0, 1-4-0) 6-0 Thursday evening at Panther Field. The Panthers put four past the Pioneers before the half, adding two more before the end of regulation. A highlight performance from
Jersey Lopez saw him lead the Panthers with a goal and two assists.
The Panthers wasted little time taking control, with
Pepe Valle scoring in the second minute off an assist from Lopez. Lopez added a goal of his own from a free kick less than four minutes later to give Kentucky Wesleyan an early 2-0 advantage.
Kentucky Wesleyan continued to pressure Malone throughout the opening half.
Mattie McNally was all alone against the goalkeeper and found the back of the net in the 20th minute, with Lopez picking up his second assist of the night, before
Filip Ksiadz scored in the 35th minute from another free kick to send the Panthers into halftime with a 4-0 lead.
The Panthers added to the advantage early in the second half when
Mathias Jensen scored in the 46th minute off a corner kick.
Carter Ford capped the scoring in the 78th minute, finishing a pass from
Cameron Bell, going around the outstretched goalkeeper to give Kentucky Wesleyan a 6-0 lead.
Kentucky Wesleyan finished with a 13-9 advantage in shots and put eight attempts on goal. The Panthers also held Malone without a goal while
Matteo Graniero recorded five saves during his 67:58 in goal.
Torje Mudenia made his debut playing the final 22:02 and helped preserve the shutout.
