OWENSBORO, Ky. – Kentucky Wesleyan women's soccer (0-5-1, 0-1-1) fell to in-state rival Thomas More (5-0-2, 3-0-0) 0-3 Thursday evening at Republic Bank Field. The Saints scored all three goals in the first half.
Thomas More opened the scoring in the eighth minute when Josie Gruber scored off an assist from Olivia Barga. The Saints added two more goals later in the half, with Andjela Popovic converting a penalty kick in the 35th minute before Alexis Harden scored less than two minutes later to give Thomas More a 3-0 advantage at halftime.
The Panthers settled in defensively after halftime, holding Thomas More scoreless throughout the second half.
Caleigh Meeks made three saves in goal for Kentucky Wesleyan, including two in the opening half and one after the break.
Kentucky Wesleyan recorded four shots in the match, with two coming from
Haley Osborne and two from
Haylie Panter.
