DANVILLE, Ky. – Kentucky Wesleyan women's soccer (0-3-0, 0-0-0) were shutout against in-state opponent Centre College (1-0-0, 0-0-0) 0-3 at Amend Field on Wednesday evening. The Panthers were outshot by the Colonels 20-3, with a 13-1 shot-on-goal advantage going the way of the hosts. Kentucky Wesleyan led in saves with 10.
Centre controlled much of the opening half, putting four shots on goal before Brooke Beasley converted a penalty kick in the 35th minute to give the Colonels a 1-0 lead.
Caleigh Meeks kept Kentucky Wesleyan within one with four saves in the first half.
The Colonels added to their advantage early in the second half when Zara McCarthy scored in the 51st minute off an assist from Claire Cavacini. Centre continued to pressure the Panthers, and Ella Mann extended the lead to 3-0 in the 58th minute, with Cavacini recording her second assist of the match.
Kentucky Wesleyan managed three shots during the match, with
Haley Osborne recording the Panthers' lone shot on goal. Meeks finished with 10 saves, including six in the second half, while Centre's Madeline Redmon and Kaelin Labhart combined for the shutout.
