EDMOND, OK. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College wrestling team ended its season at the NCAA Super Regionals on Sunday. Wesleyan designated to Super Region IV made its longest trip of the season to the Hamilton Fieldhouse on the campus of Central Oklahoma for the annual event.
The Panthers faced adversity throughout the season with many of a lesson learned. On Sunday the Panthers were led by
Drayden McKerrow at 197-pounds. McKerrow lost his opening round match but bounced back in the consolation bracket with an 8-4 victory over Erik Tomanek from Newman. Cayden Byrd ended McKerrow's stay in the bracket with an 8-1 decision in the consolation third round.
Host and No. 2 Central Oklahoma won the team title with 156 points, positioning themselves nicely for Nationals. No. 13 Central Missouri took runner up honors, 26 points behind UCO. No. 10 McKendree and Indianapolis (RV) rounded out the top four teams.
