OWENSBORO, Ky. – Evan Oakley has been named the G-MAC Baseball South Division Pitcher of the Week after an impressive display in game one of the Panthers' home-opening series last week.
In that 11-1 victory, Oakley struck out nine while allowing just one run and zero extra-base hits.
Across two starts in the early going this year, the senior currently holds a 3.37 ERA with 13 strikeouts in 10.2 innings pitched. He is tied for third in the conference in strikeouts, right behind his teammate, Ethan Ell, who sits in second with 14 strikeouts.
Oakley earned several preseason recognitions after winning G-MAC Pitcher of the Year and being named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-America Third Team last year. Those recognitions included NCBWA Preseason All-Midwest Team, NCBWA Preseason Second Team All-American, and D2 Baseball Preseason All-American First Team.
Along with Oakley, outfielder Liam Hutson was named the G-MAC South Division Player of the Week today.
Oakley and the Panthers now set their sights on Southwest Baptist this weekend for a three-game series at Panther Park. Oakley is in line to start game one on Friday, February 19th, at 12:00 PM. All three games will be streamed live on FloCollege.
