INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Fatih Huyuk has been named the Great Midwest Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week for the second time this season after a strong three-game stretch of play for the big man.
The Turkey native averaged 17.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists while shooting a scorching-hot 80% from the field across a 2-1 week for Kentucky Wesleyan men's basketball.
Against Lake Erie last Monday, Huyuk totaled 21 points and seven rebounds on 8-10 shooting in the narrow loss on the road.
The senior followed with 20 points and eight rebounds on 10-11 shooting in the close victory over Hillsdale on Thursday before logging a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds on 6-9 shooting in another tight triumph over Northwood on Saturday.
In total this season, Huyuk is averaging 13.4 points and 7.3 rebounds on 56% shooting in 27.4 minutes per game.
Overall, this is the third time a KWC men's basketball student-athlete has been awarded Athlete of the Week in 2025-26. Armandas Plintauskas is the other Panther to have earned the recognition this season.
Kentucky Wesleyan men's basketball next travels to Canton, Ohio, for a matchup against Malone at 6:30 PM on Thursday, January 15th. The game will be streamed live on FloCollege and fans can listen on 94.7 WBIO.
