Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan women's soccer team fought valiantly but ultimately fell 3-0 to #17 Ashland Saturday afternoon.
Wesleyan (0-7-1, 0-4 G-MAC) trailed just 1-0 at the half, leaning on their defense to stop several early opportunities for the Eagles.
Eventually, in the second half, the Ashland (6-2-0, 4-0 G-MAC) opportunities became too much to handle as the Eagles were able to knock in two additional goals.
Goalkeeper Abby Payne impressed with a career-high nine saves, even while being pressured for the majority of the match.
The Panthers were only able to record one shot, a Haley Osborne kick that just barely cleared the top of the goal.
Wesleyan next heads on the road to battle the Pioneers of Malone on Thursday, October 2. Kickoff is set for 4:00 PM, live on FloCollege.
