Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan men's soccer team downed Thomas More 1-0 Thursday evening at Panther Field.

Wesleyan earned their first win of the season, improving to 1-2-4 (1-2-0 G-MAC). The Saints fell to 2-3-1 (1-1-1 G-MAC) on the year.

The Panthers were playing with lots of energy right out the gate and capitalized early. Cal Nolan connected with Jersey Lopez on a nice corner kick play and the latter knocked in his first goal of the season to give the home team a 1-0 lead.

That was all the Panthers would need. KWC's defense did a strong job limiting Thomas More's shot on goal opportunities, holding the Saints to just one throughout the 90 minutes.

Both teams had 11 shots each on the night. The Panthers edged the Saints in corner kicks (4-3) and racked up a season-high 16 fouls to only four for Thomas More.

The Panthers are back at Panther Field this Saturday, September 27, for a matchup versus Ashland at 3:30 PM and live on FloCollege.
