Panthers Take on Nation's Best

INDIANAPOLIS, IN. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College wrestling team continued its season at the toughest event of the season on Saturday, The Midwest Classic. It stands as the 46th running of the annual event which caped off the first half of the season. The Midwest Classic features nearly 50 Division II programs this season. There are just over 60 Division II men's wrestling teams in the nation.

Since more teams compete in the Midwest Classic than the National Championships there are match-ups throughout every bracket that are unique and rare. The Panthers were put through the gauntlet this season, struggling to register wins.

Drayden McKerrow made progress at 197-pounds, dropping his opening round match 4-1. McKerrow was locked in a tough match-up against Jack Stephenson from Fairmont State. The difference being one take-down in the match. After a bye in the next round, McKerrow exited the Midwest Classic in the consolation bracket to Ethan Farnell from Indianapolis.

The Panthers will have an extended break in the season. Wesleyan will be back in action in 2026 at the Thomas More Quadrangular on January 7th. The Panthers will have match-ups against the Saints, Seton Hill, and Salem. Competition will start at 4PM CT.
