OWENSBORO, KY. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College wrestling team opened Great Midwest action on Saturday against the University of Findlay. The Oilers handed the Panthers a 37-12 loss in the home opener, the first dual match under Head Coach
Jacob Lorentz.
The festivities started at 165 pounds where the Oilers picked-up two quick pins to start things off. At 184 pounds
Nolan McKelvy wrestled-up a weight class on his journey to 174 pounds later this season. McKelvy went the full seven minutes, but lost in a technical fall.
The Oilers had to forfeit at 197 and heavyweight.
Drayden McKerrow and
Gavyn Uribes picked-up the easy wins for the Panthers to add 12 points to the team total. Billy Smith took down
Larson Pilant in a major decision. The Oilers won the remaining match to earn a victory.
The Panthers will travel to Springfield, Missouri on Saturday to compete in the Drury Open. The tournament at Weiser is scheduled to start at 9AM.
