Wesleyan Earns First Victory on Senior Night

Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan women's soccer team earned their first win of the 2025 season by the score of 3-2 over Ursuline on Senior Night Thursday evening at Panther Field.

Wesleyan got on the board first in the 42nd minute. Deca Burr connected on her second goal of the season, assisted by both Eva McCay and Avery Poole, to put the Panthers up 1-0.

That score would hold headed into the half. Coming out, Wesleyan doubled its lead in the 61st minute as Haylie Panter took advantage of a wild sequence and netted her second goal of 2025, making the tally 2-0.

Just over three minutes later, Ilana Hall connected with Haley Osborne for the latter's second goal of the campaign, giving the Panthers a commanding 3-0 advantage.

The Arrows didn't stop fighting. Ursuline's Erin Healy scored two goals in a 13-minute span to put Wesleyan's lead in danger, but the Panthers' defense held up for the final stretch to bring home the victory.

It was an even match in terms of opportunities, with both teams logging 11shots and six shots on goal while Ursuline had just one more corner kick (5-4).

Osborne and Panter led the offensive charge. The former recorded five shots, three on goal, and her score while the latter registered four shots, two on goal, and a goal of her own. Burr had one of the other two shots for the Panthers on her goal, while the additional shot was taken by Sierra Mullins.

Abby Payne played for the full 90 minutes as goalkeeper and totaled four saves on the night.

Before the match, Wesleyan women's soccer honored their eight seniors: Raelynn Blanford, Haidyn Green, Ilana Hall, Sierra Mullins, Maci Onstott, Kayla Nunes, Skylar Tucker, and Steeley Walker.

The Panthers have a full week before their next match: an October 16th battle versus the Tiffin Dragons in Tiffin, Ohio. Kickoff is set for 12:00 PM and the game will be streamed live on FloCollege.
