TIFFIN, OH. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's soccer team fell 2-0 to Tiffin University on Thursday afternoon. The Panthers had not suffered a defeat in over a week of Great Midwest action.
On the day, the Panthers fired 13 shots at the Dragons' net, but none of the attempts connected in the end. Wesleyan took three shots in the first 20 minutes of the match with
Steeley Walker's being on target. Tiffin keeper, Aubree Lee made the save to preserved a 0-0 tie in the 24
th minute of the match. In the first 45 minutes the Panthers took six shots.
The Dragons escaped the first half with a 1-0 lead after a goal in the 39
th minute. Wesleyan looked for the equalizer at the start of the second half, as Walker fired back-to-back shots in front of the Dragons' net while
Sierra Mullins added another shot seconds later. After the rebound, Mullins had another attempt to tie the match, but Lee made the save again.
The Panthers continued to apply pressure throughout, but the Dragons provided themselves with insurance with a second goal in the 71
st minute. Mullins finished the game with four shots, two on goals. Walker added four shots, one on goal.
Abby Payne made four saves.
The Panthers will travel to Canton, Ohio on Saturday for a match against Walsh. The contest is scheduled to start at 12PM CT.
